Sunday Game Strong

Sunday is my favourite day of the week and how I spend it sets the tone for the week to come which is why it’s important to keep my Sunday game strong. Here’s a look into how I spend my Sundays.

Sweat It Out

Sunday mornings you’ll find me on the bike at Spin Society. Leading the pack through a sweaty and energizing ride, working it out to everything from Queen Bey to Drake.

Hydrate

Drink water. We’ve heard it before, yes, but hydration goes way beyond water. You need to replenish electrolytes too, minerals like calcium, magnesium and sodium. These play a role in how hydrated you are. Why does that matter? Well, when you’re hydrated your blood flows easily, like maple syrup, throughout your body. When you’re dehydrated your blood becomes thicker, like molasses, which is more work for your heart to pump through your body. That work = energy. Energy you could be using for other things, like working it out in spin class. To start the day hydrated, the first thing I do in the morning is make my fave hydrating “mocktail” (recipe below) with Vega Chlorella for a boost of the antioxidant chlorophyll, withinUs TruMarine collagen to encourage collagen production, Vega Electrolyte Hydrator for those essential electrolytes, and vitamin C rich lemon juice (I typically squeeze a few lemons and store them in the fridge to use over a period of 2-3 days).

Shop

Rolling through the stalls at the Farmer’s Market and the aisles of the grocery store is one of my favorite things to do. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes Sunday shopping is more than food – I do love a fresh pair of Nike sneakers or new bag but Sunday is all about prep so it’s when I shop for and prep food for the week. I wash and chop fruit & veggies and either cook a batch of whole grain rice or make a slow cooker meal that I’ll have during the week. I love breakfast anytime so after prepping I take some of that fresh produce and make myself one of my go-to acai bowls.

Chill

Walking my dog, Gracie has to be one of the most calming and grounding things I do; it’s like a walking meditation. You’ll find me walking the seawall with her on the daily and Sunday is no exception.

I’m currently obsessed with The Fosters (if you haven’t checked out this show yet I highly recommend it). At the end of the day I’ll make myself a bowl of popcorn (recipe below) and tuck into an episode (or two) before heading to bed.
